Carol Edgarian är en 49:årig författarinna som bor i San Francisco och som är känd för romanen Rise the Euphratesfrån 1994.
Han har nu skrivit en läsvärd roman som utspelas i dagens San Francisco, en måste-läsa bok för alls som är intresserad av livet i Kalifornien och San Francisco.

Ms. Edgarian starts the book just before the Obama inauguration, with the economy plummeting and Bernard L. Madoff (who looks to Lena like “a Jew with a George Washington haircut”) in the news. The basic outline of this story isn’t what elevates “Three Stages of Amazement” from the commonplace. But it goes like this: [Lenas man, kirurgen] Charlie needs funds for his venture. He secretly goes to the man Lena hates most in the world: her uncle Cal Rusch, a venture capitalist with a “thrill-seeking noggin,” a Madoff aspect, a hilltop mansion in Pacific Heights and a vast fortune. … Charlie must tell Lena about his business venture.
