Efter att ha varit nästan enbart fokuserat på mjukvara under flera decennier så börjar entreprenörerna i Silicon Valley återigen att fokusera på hårdvara. Orsaken är intressant, nämligen tillgången till billiga 3D-skrivare, som på svenska heter Friformsframställning med vilka man kan “skriva fram” prototyper av de hårdvaruobjekt man tänker skapa. Det är billigt, snabbt och gör det möjligt för små grupper av entreprenörer att testa sina idéer med ett minimum av riskkapital.

Och tack vare öppen kod och billiga mikroprocessorer så kan de här prylarna förses med inbäddad logik och kommunicera via det mobila nätet.

Och det finns redan en världsomspännande plattform för såna här små prylar, nämligen den mobila webben och miljoner pekmobiler. (Se ett spännande exempel längre ner i inlägget)

Det finns redan bevis på att såna här prylar kan bli oerhört framgångsrika, nämligen Jack Dorseys, en av Twitters skapare, Square som man sticker in i en mobil så att småföretagare och t.o.m. privatpersoner kan ta betald med kreditkort.
